Revision Ecovation is a Toronto based full-service contractor specializing in green building. We are dedicated to the sustainable redevelopment of the urban environment, and the healthy revitalization of existing structures.

In construction, the massive amount of embodied energy used to create, transport and install different materials manifests itself in the form of greenhouse gases and other pollutants destined to contribute to the effects of the global climate crisis. In turn, the demolition process also requires large amounts of energy; heavy equipment powered by fossil fuels for demolition and disposal. This debris is shipped to landfills, which are becoming increasingly overcrowded, are often in distant locations, and which have their own sets of associated environmental problems.

The choice to ecovate an existing structure (instead of demolishing and rebuilding it), is one which significantly reduces both the amount of embodied energy required for the process as well as the amount of waste that could potentially wind up in landfills. By salvaging, re-using, and altering mature yet stable structures, we are able to rejuvenate beautiful old historical properties while creating flexible, multi-use, highly energy and water efficient dwellings. The ecovation process allows the client and builder a way to save historical buildings while significantly reducing a project's potentially massive construction carbon footprint. Carbon offsetting is available through a third party agent, to further reduce or even eliminate this construction carbon footprint.

At Revision Ecovation, we not only focus on the conservation of the environment at large, but strive to create healthy living spaces for our clients. Great emphasis is placed upon achieving superior indoor air quality. This is accomplished through the careful selection and installation of materials that are natural, non-toxic, or low/no VOC. By selecting building and finishing materials with indoor air quality in mind, we eliminate harmful off-gassing at the source and produce the healthiest indoor environments possible for out clients.

Revision Ecovation is a proud memeber of the following organizations:

Revision Ecovation is an organization drawing on advanced knowledge in the areas of green building and sustainability, backed by years of building experience and custom fabrication. Nicholas Buncic, BA, LEED AP and Michael Schmidt of Savage Custom Fabrication have come together to address a growing need for designers, builders, and installers to realize the pressing needs of the present, and to help ensure a Green and Sustainable future.

Nicholas Buncic, founder of Revision Ecovation,
has a broad base in residential and commercial construction. His building exploits have led him from Toronto's renovation industry, to commercial building throughout New Zealand,
and on to experience the natural building world.

Nicholas is a graduate of
Fleming college's Sustainable building Design and Construction program, and a
Canada Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. He is deeply committed to environmental conservation, and the sustainable re-development of the urban environment.

Observing first-hand the ecologically destructive, and wasteful practices of the construction industry at home and abroad, he is determined to aid in the ushering in of a new era of responsible waste management, green technology, and green building practices.

Michael Schmidt, Savage Custom Fabrication Founder

Michael Schmidt, founder of Savage Fabrication,
entered the professional building world in 1996 as a ticketed metal worker. Since that time he has been able to develop a broad based skill-set, performing extensive work in commercial and industrial custom fabrication.

Becoming a sought after builder/installer, Schmidt and Savage Fabrication were quickly snatched up the the burgeoning film and TV industry in Toronto, where his technical ability, resourcefulness, and ingenuity were tested by extreme working conditions and deadlines. Clients included reputable institutions such as
Performance Solutions;  Bratton Scenery;  IATSE Union;
NABET Union;  Stefaniuk FX Inc.;  RPT Inc.;  Little Feet Ltd.;
Blast Metal-works; and  Creative Art Glass. Thriving in this environment, he was further able to hone skills in project and time management.

In a new chapter of his company, Schmidt contracted to two of the largest exhibit companies in Canada (Mice Kadoke Displays and Holman Exhibits) which specialize in the design fabrication and packaging of trade show exhibits for a gamut of international clients. As liaison to the operations manager, his project management skills were constantly being exploited.

Looking to take Savage Fabrication onto a new path, Schmidt moved into custom residential renovation. Having met Buncic and establishing a working relationship, the two builders found they shared similar concerns about the wasteful nature of construction and the general decline of the global environment. Bonded by a shared aspiration towards better, ecologically sustainable ways of building, and frustrated by seeming government and industry inaction, the pair decided they would cease to carry on
'business as usual'.
